Yesterday I plied more Romney, cut the soap, met a recent CS grad who will
be working with us for a year, missed the shuttle but got picked up by P
(probably wise given it was over 90 out and I’ve been overheating
recently), and picked a pile of snow peas for dinner, chasing a groundhog
out of the garden in the process. It’s not clear how it got in — I did
leave the gate open in the morning, but P checked when he finished watering
for me and it was clear. The little jerk climbed to the top of the fence
right in front of me, but it should be harder to do that from the outside,
just because of the way the wire is attached. Anyway it seems only to have
nibbled on some of the orach, which won’t hurt it.

After dinner I made some progress on Gerty’s embroidery project, and it
looks like I will definitely win at floss chicken, at least for this satin
stitch bow.

Nevermoor, by the way.

Yesterday I plied another bobbin of Romney yarn, and made soap and forgot
to add the essential oils. I’ll cut it today and decide whether or not to
rebatch it on the weekend and add them back in.

We went to the farmers market and got asparagus, zucchini, bok choy,
parsley, and sunflower sprouts. P got some Greek donuts as a snack and I
hopped over to the geagle to get sunflower oil, which they didn’t have, so
I got avocado oil instead. I just needed something for high-heat sautées
and tarkas.

The alpaca blanket had been shedding, so I put it through the wash and hung
it out to dry. The rain forecast was canceled.

The heat was oppressive, so I spent the rest of the day in the AC. I
finished the knit dishcloth, did some reading on box pleats, and sketched
out a design for a new skirt. Hiding the back zip was a puzzle, as were
pockets, but I think I have solutions for both that I like. We did the
crossword, and played a game of scrabble. Made some progress on Gerty’s
embroidery project. Ultimately a good day.

Yesterday I plied another bobbin of Romney yarn, washed and line-dried two
loads of laundry, and assembled ingredients for a batch of soap. I used the
last bits of every saturated fat in my collection, and wound up having to
send P out for more coconut oil to make up the numbers. I have everything
locked up in pots with lids or in the microwave to prevent mouse access.

I knit half another dishrag, and finished reading The Pirate of Fathoms
Deep, the second book in a lovely series set in a swords, kingdoms, and
tactics world where gender and anatomy have nothing to do with one another.
Highly recommend.

Yesterday I tallied yardage and weight for all the teal yarn, and am pretty
happy with the results. Cut the soap. P and I moved the blanket chest up to
the bedroom, which was harder than I anticipated but I got through it. I
also thoroughly vacuumed the bedroom floor, which deeply needed it. Found
two pair of hand knit socks, including my handspun ones, so that’s good. :)

Health wise I’ve started a more rigorous food-symptom log. It’s going to
take me a bit to build up the habit, but it’s getting important. I’m still
losing weight I don’t have.

Yesterday I made soap, made cookies, spun a bobbin of the angora blend,
cleared out the silverware drawer and washed the little bins, and knit a
few rounds on the last remaining sleeve cuff of my sweater. Mom called, and
we had a nice long chat. Good day.

Yesterday I started spinning the rolags I carded for hat linings, finished
putting together a soap order and shipped it, and turned the crank on more
data processing. I had a therapy appointment which was much needed, txted
with my sister, and assembled ingredients for making soap.

Rereading Clan of the Cave Bear. It has not aged well.
