Yesterday I started a new crochet sample and did a pile of ambivalent research on period sewing manuals. I’m looking for clues on handling bias on delicate fabrics, since I’m not super pleased with the machine staystitching. For the next one I think I will try using hand running stitches, and if that doesn’t work, some kind of starch or stabilizer either in the fabric or underneath as a tear-away thing.

At work I got all my tests to pass! Hooray! So I ported the last bunch of unit tests from the old format, dealing with the last few sensor/effectors. Found an infinite loop in the state machine, so that’s next. Met with F and M and contributed “treat it like a parameter we’ll want to tune and plot later” answers to a bunch of implementation-choice questions. There’s also a lot of “doing it right would be arduous but that’s not always necessary in neural nets, so we’re going to try the easy but dubious way first and revisit if that doesn’t work” happening in this project.

Meeting ran late so P picked me up and drove us home. Sat for a bit, then dinner, crossword, Legends, sleep. Avoided the bedtime panic attack by having water instead of snack, but not sure that’s sustainable.

Yesterday I carded some fleece, squared away a mortar question with the
mason and signed contract and down payment, had a very chill day at work
(it is spring break), and finished knitting the last cuff on my sweater.
There are still a few ends to weave in and a good wash and block to do but
I am super pleased with it regardless!

P was home for the gas company to come and swap out meter for an electronic
one, and dropped the contract and check off with the mason. We’re adulting
pretty well!

Health-wise: managed to track both food and symptoms today; hopefully I can
keep that up. Some nausea and anxiety after dinner but eminently
conquerable.

Yesterday I tallied yardage and weight for all the teal yarn, and am pretty
happy with the results. Cut the soap. P and I moved the blanket chest up to
the bedroom, which was harder than I anticipated but I got through it. I
also thoroughly vacuumed the bedroom floor, which deeply needed it. Found
two pair of hand knit socks, including my handspun ones, so that’s good. :)

Health wise I’ve started a more rigorous food-symptom log. It’s going to
take me a bit to build up the habit, but it’s getting important. I’m still
losing weight I don’t have.

Yesterday I spun a bit, and went through two snacks again at work. I should
probably start tracking symptoms again because the post-prandrial nausea
isn’t letting up.

P had some business on campus about a chronically missing/absent student,
so he drove us home. At this point they have been seen on campus, so we
know it’s not a life-or-death problem, but it’s still pretty stressful.
There’s some other conflict with a different team of students, and he also
got a callback about another job, so his brain is a pretty busy place.

Yesterday I spun some more teal singles, and knit another set of decreases
on my sweater. There’s less than 20 rows left! Very exciting.

Mouse sign on the kitchen table again. I don’t know how they’re getting up
there, but I guess it means we should reset the trap.

Spent the afternoon ravenously hungry, to the point of cognitive
impairment. Ate two snacks. Ate dinner. Ate a substantial bedtime snack.
And now I’m hungry for breakfast. This is extremely unusual, but more like
what I figure a functioning body should feel like? It’s been ages. Still
nauseated after eating but it’s tolerable.

Had a great dream about learning to phase shift a la the stone-eaters from
The Broken Earth. It was post-apocalyptic, but more secret diaspora than
natural disaster. I remember you had to fully inhale before you started so
you wouldn’t beignet a bunch of rock dust.
