Yesterday I finished a bobbin of red brown alpaca singles, wound it off,
and marveled at the weight of it. Alpaca is dense stuff!

The bobbin has been acting up, so I decided to do a quick wipe-down and
re-oil the flyer axle, and it turned into an all-singing all-dancing
spinning wheel spa day. I completely disassembled the tensioning system,
boiled and scrubbed it down to bare metal (cast iron), lightly oiled it to
prevent rust, and put a layer of beeswax on the surfaces that rotate
against the wooden maiden assembly (I get better control of tension that
way). I found some extremely questionable shellac on the underside of said
maiden assembly, and reamalgamated it a bit with some high-proof alcohol.
Wiped the lint off all the wood surfaces, and gave everything a light
polish with a beeswax/mineral oil/lemon oil mixture. Happy machine.

I finished the decreases on the hat, and it’s ...a bit weird. Reserving
judgment until I block it. It might be worth ripping back the main body of
the hat to before the decreases and making it taller to match the lining.
It might be worth ripping the decreases out of the lining and re-doing them
at a curve that better reflects the main body. We’ll see.

Knit a few rows on the lace sock too before my hands started to go.

P Z and B went to KGB30 festivities during the day, and had a blast. I
snagged some P time for a quick grocery trip, then ate dinner and chatted
while they figured out their own dinner plans. A reasonable balance.
