Lotta Rs in this group, sorry
Jun. 24th, 2020 06:46 amYesterday I reviewed the bugs that were reported overnight, one of which was a major naming mishap. Came up with some alternatives and let them marinate for a few hours. Went to the big group meeting where we did the planning for the viz features in the next release, and argued R away from making viz responsible for the revision to how we calculate 7-day trends, since they have nothing to do with the data, only how it’s displayed, and there’s no way to get them any draft data without rolling it out publicly across all sensors and having the draft show up on the public map whether we like it or not. While A was in the data webinar (it was an F team thing) viz got the release version tagged for putting up on CMS staging. Unfortunately there was a bad interaction with the CMS CSS, which took some hours to debug. We didn’t get everything perfect in the end, but decided getting the release tested by marketing for all browsers and OSes was more important than fixing the last few positioning problems, and satisficed. Handled a management snag along the way; A and I will be more clear in future about what bugs are release blockers and what aren’t, and R will work on adapting his (fairly typical at CMU) sense of urgency in perfectionism to something more sustainable, more literally manage-able, and less likely to tank anyone’s health with cortisol. Spent the rest of the afternoon reviewing pull requests and revising the dataset for the hackathon.
P and I made pita (irregular puff; needs more gluten), then dinner, crossword, DS9, snack, sleep. Dreamt of something?
Blood Lust continues. This author has Opinions about storytelling and storytellers, but he’s finding a good rhythm. We are now firmly in D&D campaign territory; we’ve built the party, completed the nominal task, taken up the cue for the ultimate quest, and are now working our way through side quests on our way to the end boss.
I’ve been doing some reading about fitness programs for strength and mobility. There’s a body-weight fitness group on Reddit with an excellent wiki that lays out a pile of options depending on your goals (I don’t need to get ripped just keep myself from getting injured by typing so much). Rows are a whole thing.
