You change like sugar cane
Mar. 3rd, 2018 12:14 pmYesterday I slept in, fixed some pernicious bugs in the makefile I’m using
for data processing, and started working on a type system for the resulting
data. I marked how long I want the sleeves of the sweater to be, ripped one
of them back, and put a couple rows of ribbing back in.
Two masons came by to take a look at the back wall of the house and give
quotes. The first ones were on time, and want $1200 for the immediate fix,
which seems fine, and they’ll get back to us for how much to repoint the
whole house (though they seemed daunted?). The second ones were a no-show
Thursday, and a couple hours late yesterday, but they (1) are greenfield
locals and (2) were hella detailed and seemed emotionally prepared to
handle the scale of the full job. They’ll send us quotes next week. It
gives me heebie-jeebie flashbacks to Conman Window Guy, who was similarly
detail-oriented, but took our down payment and ran. I guess it’s easy to
front for big jobs if you’re never intending to actually do them. So, I
dunno. Anyway, there’s one more company on the list. I’d like to get
confirmation on some of the chimney stuff the Greenfield folks came up with
before we decide, regardless.
