Ahh, that’s better
Sep. 7th, 2019 07:12 amYesterday I started work on hemming the green corduroy pants. I seem to have marked dramatically different levels on each leg so I’m starting with the low one and we’ll see how it goes. I took the bus in, and met a woman at the bus stop who’s new to my route. I let her know where to catch it for the way home.
I’m reading Surrender None, by Elizabeth Moon. It’s good, despite some body horror, and a CN for sexual assault by police. It’s kinda like Teckla meets Lord of the Flies plus a SF novel I can’t quite place where a colonist training exam goes wrong and they wind up building a whole society on a planet cut off from hyperspace. Could do with fewer male characters but the protagonist is more feminist than most, so it’s tolerable.
At work I went back to getting SEMPRE to talk to the LIA KB directly, and am now at the point where I’m faced with either implementing a SPARQL server or doing some kind of bizarre dance to convert SPARQL queries to SQL ones first. The way I’ve arranged the database for theo, we can essentially treat the slots table as a canonical triple store, but any multi-hop queries will need some fussing to dereference the value pointers first. I probably need to move the database over to MySQL first.
Home on the shuttle with P, then I did some work in the garden while he hopped to the store. I picked the first orange bell pepper, some more lemon chiles, tomatillos, and a pile of beans. I really gotta redo the trellises shorter for the Cherokee beans, or maybe try an A-frame arrangement or something. I ripped some of the dying leaves off the tromboncino and the Godiva pumpkin. Watered everything deeply. Weeded some of the carrot patch.
Came inside and started looking up tomatillo recipes, and learned that I’d picked too early and they weren’t good to eat. Boo. Well, there’s plenty more out there.
Dinner, crossword, Elementary, put together ingredients for more nut and seed bars, sleep.
