It's hide-in-the-AC time in the evenings
Jul. 22nd, 2017 10:11 amYesterday I cut lining fabric and most of the interfacing for the lining. I
also took a block of "otter wax," a fabric waterproofing blend of beeswax
and vegetable oils, and waxed the canvas pieces. Normally you'd do this to
a finished garment and let it cure, but as I'm doing it to pieces I intend
to sew I ironed the waxed pieces (under paper towels and scrap fabric to
protect my iron) to melt the wax into the fibers, more like a standard
waxed canvas fabric. The results are a bit streaky but should keep the
contents of the bag dry in a light rain.
