Yesterday I finished hemming the ends of all the drawstrings/tie cords on the bulk bin bags, and finished Emerald Circus. It included notes from the author on each story, which was nice. At work I fixed a thing but then wound up discovering that I may have coded myself into a corner. The difference between a list of individual values and a value which is a list has come up before, and one of the disadvantages of solving the SPARQL-Theo problem with a SPARQL-SQL planner is having to solve it again. On top of that, the interpretation of a phrase like “the [relation]s of all [entity]s” is ambiguous; e.g. “the email addresses of all my advisees” vs “the advisees of all the committee members” — do you want only the top-ranked [relation] for each [entity], or the full set? How do we encode the two so they remain distinct, letting us ask the user for clarification?
End of day I attended a meeting with M and both his advisors, which was less than productive. We got a bit more done in the hallway and then in my office afterwards; the next thing M needs to do is figure out what the most important part of the scope of his project actually is, because as stated there’s way too much to address before August.
Home, made dinner, P got home from his late meeting just in time, and we watched things while we ate. Crossword, Repair Shop, snack, sleep. Dreamt of visiting my Canadian cousins, sewing in the sunshine, anatomically incorrect chickens, coffin-shaped swimming pools, Get Smart -style spy missions on airplanes.
