Yesterday P’s fever had dissipated and he was feeling lucid enough to teach, so he did so. I pressed all the scraps from the summer tops, and trued the ends of the teal ticking. I have to figure out how I want to wash the 15 yards of purple canvas; I will probably cut it in shorter lengths but want to measure how much it shrinks first. At work I got MySQL installed, configured Django to use it, and ran tests. There’s something causing an integrity error in the reset routine, of course, no fun at all. I met with new-ish student M and explained how PRA solves a different problem to the one we addressed in CORGI, what makes NELL different from pure THEO, and some of the background for a bug he’s seeing in pytheo where type predicates aren’t always going through the proper dereferencing channels. Home, then did a turn through the garden and picked lemon chiles, beans, and an orange paste tomato. Something is interfering with the hose to the rain barrels and the flow isn’t great, so I wasn’t able to water as much as I’d hoped. I did figure out why I was never finding the barrels more than half full though — the tap on the watering can filler was open, so we were just dumping all that water on the ground whenever it rained. Closed it.

Senlin Ascends continues, with occasional whiffs of Night Vale but never quite enough to satisfy. Some body horror, and abuse of authority by medical staff and law enforcement. Still very young in style, though I’m not sure I’d read it to a child; it’s as if Coraline discussed sex workers in the same breath as the buttons.

Dinner, crossword, and Elementary, which I enjoy a great deal. So not an asshole. Snack, sleep.
