Aug. 16th, 2019 07:30 amYesterday I was totally fine in the morning; called the doctor and snagged a last-minute appointment with the new CRNP who is both very nice and quick on the uptake. She prescribed flomax as expected, as well as an imaging order to use if I was curious or if the pain came back. Picked up the flomax on the way home, had some gentle lunch. Had a moderate bout of pain, made the imaging appointment, and let my workmates know I wouldn’t make our meeting tomorrow. Had a snack, and wtched a few episodes of Siempre Bruja/Always a Witch, a Colombian series. It’s a time-travel story about a magicworking slave from the 1600s who narrowly escapes being burned at the stake and is sent to modern times as part of a deal to save her white noble lover. Had a more serious pain flare around dinner time, and had P eat without me in case we had to go to the ER. Recovered after an hour and a half or so. Worst thing about kidney stones is how when they’re not hurting it’s as if nothing ever happened. Not even sore. Then poof and I’m curled up on the floor in agony. Not keen on doing that on campus. Anyway once I was clear of it had a pile of water and watched some episodes of Hilda on rec from T. It’s an animated kids show set in Scandinavia with elves and trolls and giants and spherical flying wolfcreatures and nothing is bloody or cortisol-inducing and it’s basically perfect sick-day watching. Took my new meds with a small snack and went to sleep.
