Yesterday the full data load finished, which was excellent news, but it meant that the 140GB binlog started to sync to all the replicas, blocking any other updates from going through. I finished uploading the remaining issue gaps, but without sync they wouldn’t make it to the replicas in time for the forecasting practice run at 8pm. We solved it by pointing forecasting directly at the primary server instead of at the production URL that goes to the server pool. In the meantime I messaged with J about the next phase of her project, fussed with the data assembly script I’m using for that, and cleared a bunch of PRs. Then I spent most of the afternoon in bed watching SG-1 with popcorn.
Crossword after lunch, scrabble after dinner (555), SG-1, snack, sleep. Dreamt of road trips, motels, track meets, ceramics internships, very suspicious plumbing, Spain, planning for a role in an Indian wedding, a complex decentralized chat/message board system.
Where Late continues; it’s as if the author read Robert Heinlein’s entire oeuvre and decided, “Yknow he had some good ideas but that coward just didn’t take them far enough.”
