Yesterday I cut and did the machine sewing on a waistband for the paler
pair of pj pants, and got through a quarter and a bit of the hand work. I
finished Vor Game and started Cetaganda. Why didn’t Miles ever suggest
Elena talk to Cordelia about the thing with her father? That seems
underexplored.

I took a set of pants measurements for P and drafted a pattern. There’s a
lot of uncertainty around where the crotch curve should end, similar
actually to my experience drafting back bodices for me from measurements —
like five inches of difference between where the thigh and waist
measurements say it should go and where the leg width says it should go,
with a rub-off to double check falling somewhere in the middle. Well,
that’s what test garments are for. I will probably go with actual muslin on
this one since the adjustments are likely to be so intense.

We took a small adventure in SqHill after lunch, and I got more rooibos at
the monkey place and a little browse at 10kV and the good sweet potato corn
chips at rite aid, then geagle for normal groceries. I’m testing out a
switch from the xochitl totopos to gf pretzels.

I tried a thing where I melted sugar and honey with oil and tossed some of
the puffed corn in it until crisp. Fabulous success, though I need to be
more careful about portion control as eating a batch in one sitting isn’t
great. It turned into a pattern for the day: I did it again with bedtime
snack. Carbs interact shittily with my appetite and too many make me
fragile and jittery. Not a fun combination.

P spent the afternoon on his Google application; very exciting and I’m
pleased with their choices.

Dinner, crossword, Heart. The wedding episode is way too Hallmark for me.
Their vows in particular were infuriating.
