Yesterday I spun more of the Romney-mohair blend, finishing a bobbin. Not
much left before plying time. At work I finished all the tests for the
existing effectors. Next I really need to dig into the middleware, but I’m
nervous about it because I’m new to mobile development and the uncertainty
makes me itch, mentally speaking. I’ll get over it. Once home, I did a turn
through the garden and picked beans, arugula, calendula, and a fat little
Lebanese white summer squash that got away from me a bit. I have offered it
to P for stuffing. While slipping behind the trellises to cut it loose, I
discovered a suspiciously tame hornets nest in the ground. I hardly ever
need to go back there, so I can avoid it in future, but that will
definitely need to come out once the garden is done.

After dinner I experimented with some more colors for the oval of french
knots in Gerty’s embroidery project, and landed on the same pale yellow as
the flowers in the vines. I also found a method for outlining the petals on
those flowers using couching, but it doesn’t really work unless I left a
space in the middle. I’ll have to see if I can come up with an alternative
for the super-tight ones, or if I’ll have to cut the threads free and redo
them.
