Yesterday we made three kinds of cookies, including a lovely Spanish cutout
made with lard and orange zest I may have to try converting to gluten-free.

I snuggled with the pup and knit on my sweater (the one I abandoned at the
end of spring) while folks went to the Strip.

I over-peopled a bit in the evening between cookie making and dinner, and
recharged in my room with more knitting and the pilot episode of Ms Maisel,
which was excellent. It’s about women in comedy and New York in the 50s and
the jewish community and class contrast and single motherhood and basically
there’s plenty of dramatic tension without putting anybody in mortal danger.

We did gifts after supper. Highlights for me included handmade placemats,
bear claw oven mitts, and a lovely sewing basket. For the room included a
well-known, -loved, yet un-owned book on telescope building, the new
translation of the Odyssey, and a book structured around a year’s worth of
weekly postcards between a pair of people using data visualization to
describe their lives.

I slept like a stone.
