Yesterday I sewed the curved seams for the main fabric and the lining
(including sewing one of them on backwards and having to redo it). I also
discovered I'd put the zipper in going the wrong direction, but as it
doesn't interfere too much with the operation of the bag I'm going to leave
it that way. I did wind up hand-sewing the narrow bits of the lining seams,
because the top-stitching on the zipper (which I wasn't able to do last
time) made it too difficult to fold the uninvolved fabric out of the way
far enough to get it through the machine. The larger seam allowances are a
huge help regardless.
P went to the garden and brought home beets (with their greens),
rattlesnake beans, and a small carrot.
I got a haircut. As I mentioned on instagram, it's a little bit Ramona
Quimby but I like it.
I've started shopping for future sewing projects. I'm planning some black
twill shorts for P (which is surprisingly sparse online, I would have
thought there'd be dozens of options), and for me, a coat (which will be a
big adventure, but I want a boiled wool in a rich blue plum or red so it's
going to take some shopping around), button-down shirts, and either a
double cloth shift dress for when it gets hot again or a lightweight terry
skirt like my favorite orange one. In my more immediate queue are another
long linen godet skirt in a dusty grape color and a flowy shirt in this
great green linen/elastane crepe.
