infryqWe're at the Great Lakes Fiber Show in Wooster, OH! This is our third year coming to the show and staying in the same bed & breakfast.
Drove down Thursday afternoon and met with the innkeeper, learned our favorite restaurant shut down after a bad batch of hollandaise :( but found a couple of semi-replacements.
Friday was book day; Wooster is home to two great bookstores, one small but airy and mostly new, the other sprawling and crowded with used books. I picked up a couple rare pamphlets on handspinning (one signed?), a wee book on weaving and dyeing, and a funny book on efficient quilting. P found a variety of great stuff, including a history of the world through food and a geometric analysis of M.C. Escher's design principles. We also went to the Wayne county public library, which we've somehow missed the last two years. They're still organized on the Dewey Decimal System o_o but have an extensive collection on handspinning including the Fleece & Fiber Sourcebook, one of my favorite encyclopedias of wool breeds.
Saturday was wool day; I went to the fleece sale shortly after opening and picked up a mystery-breed but gorgeous black black black one and a medium grade gray Shetland for dyeing. Then the vendor market!

Then M drove down from Ann Arbor to see us and give me (a), the raw fleece he picked up at a shearing demo in New Zealand last week, and (b), a small bag of fluff from their Pomeranian. We had lunch, we chatted, i faded a bit and downloaded Imbroglio, we had dinner, I went to bed.
Today we drive back, and I photograph everything and put it into Ravelry. Then I reorganize the fiber stash. Depending on how terrible the weather is in Pittsburgh I may do a little gardening, and I have a few things to figure out for C and R's wedding next weekend. A great vacation!

- supported spindle and bowl in curly maple
- 1/2 lb Romney lamb roving humbug
- 1 1/2 lbs Romney / longwool cross batt rolls from my favorite processor (srsly I can spin bulky on my cpw with this; it spins itself) in two coordinating colors
- art batts and a coordinating dark braid of Shetland from my favorite dyer
- a new spinning basket
- 4 pewter buttons in a Celtic drake design
- a wrought iron orifice / diz hook
- an antique flax hetchel (gotta plant the flax...)
