Silver linings
May. 15th, 2020 06:17 amYesterday I submitted the aggregations, defended L from being moved away from my team prematurely and finally successfully advocated for expanding the ops team, met with Indicators, met with F and M to clarify how smoothing works, and had therapy (mostly practice at verbalizing the mobility and intervention stats for a nontechnical audience, and also how the deep-end-of-the-pool management training is making me come alive). Lunch, then spent the rest of the afternoon getting validation working again and wrangling PIs... ultimately helped them decide to scrap the v1.1.1 release and push everything into v1.2 next week. Went to M’s thesis meeting; still can’t get the model to overfit, so he’s going to try simplifying the problem further and giving logistic regression (how quaint!) a shot.
Dinner, crossword, DS9, snack, sleep. Dreamt of intrigue, choir road trips, ant colony-like pheromone hijinks, family reunions, sturdy breakfasts from unexpected chafing dishes, reassembling pocket knives, hen’s eggs, tutus.
