Yesterday I finished the neck binding. I did enough wfh in the morning to
figure out the NAS was totally hosed: zfs had probably fixed all the
inconsistencies but I/O errors were preventing the error codes from being
cleared. Major bummer. Kicked it over to IT. I made lunch, picked a pile of
snow peas to bring to C, and P drove us in. Lunch with P and C, then back
to the debug mines. I got all tests passing again in pytheo, brought the
LIA ontology builder back up to spec, and I have a shiny new failing test
to start with this afternoon. IT brought in a senior engineer to look at
the NAS; there’s some kind of hardware issue with the JBOD that’s probably
a manufacturing defect. Ugh. I sent mail to the users list letting folks
know about the issue.

I finished To Catch A Stolen Soul, which had a surprisingly satisfying
ending. Started the next in the series, To Seize A Wayward Spirit. Reader
is still slightly bored but there’s already some depth building. Turns out
these are Harlequin books! Go figure.

Home, decompressed with P. He’d about half packed, and had met with J at
the teaching study center to get a first pass on how to teach firstyears
and on evaluation & feedback best practices. He was already covering about
half the important points, and the other half will actually make grading
easier on him (e.g. you only need to say the top three things because more
than that is overwhelming; summative feedback is way less important so you
can have a super brief baseline and offer more detail on request). Very
cool. Dinner, helped fold laundry, P finished packing, then we did the
crossword (ugh the high blood pressure thing is untrue). Flash, snack,
sleep.
