Yesterday I worked from home in the morning, making some progress on the
nlg system. For the afternoon I switched to middleware, fleshing out the
execution request workflow. We had our first multi-lab Text Group meeting,
which has some great folks, only a couple of which are bad at summarizing
their work. One of the visiting students brought a confection called papdi
to share; it’s like a halva but with the light, airy, soft, flaky dials
turned up to eleven. Purportedly one of the many foods that came to India
via Iran/Persia, where it plays the role that cotton candy does in the US.
This one was cardamom almond and completely delicious.

Late meeting meant getting home two hours later than I usually do, and my
appetite had no idea what to do with itself. I picked beans in the garden
and ran the hose on the sorely heat-stressed plants. Some kind of hungry
climbing creature found its way in and demolished the remaining bush beans
and the Fortex trellis, which is a shame. That’s what happens though when
you abandon a garden for almost a week.

I wound up eating fruit snacks for dinner because 🤷🏼‍♀️. Crossword author
was confused about the meaning of a certain Greek word, which was
frustrating. Bed.
