Yesterday I knit some on the socks, bound off sleeve #1 on the sweater, and
started sleeve #2 (...twice. The first time I started knitting it inside
out. Caught it after only three rounds though so it wasn't too bad).
Lots of paper-writing at work for a deadline Friday. It turns out there's a
problem with one of the datasets and it has to be re-run... not sure we're
going to make it. Big datasets are big.
Food-wise, I made an amazing potato soup -- rinse and boil mung dal with
turmeric while you fry whole cumin seeds in olive oil. When cumin has
bubbled a bit, add diced potatoes, cover and let fry slowly on medium-low,
turning occasionally to brown all sides & adding more oil as needed. Once
potatoes are brown, add the lot to the soup (the hot oil will sputter),
along with frozen sweet potatoes, coriander, cumin, and cinnamon. Cover and
simmer 20 minutes. Salt to taste and serve. Would be even better with a few
green peas thrown in at the end, but pretty great regardless.
