Yesterday I sent mail to OIE about our H1-B problem, wrote up a draft policy on how to get new indicators and signals approved, went to team leads and discussed the 1.8 release, modeling staffing, and the upcoming Google fellows onboarding and how that affects our hiring plans through HR. Lunch, then met one of the program manager options for Google Fellows, and hung around after for one of the interaction designers as well. I sent out calendar invites for the comms interviews, and started work loading the 1.8 release candidate into the CMS for staging. I met very briefly with Engineering, since classes had started and we lost a bunch of people in that timeslot. Got the last few approvals on the new fall meeting schedule and sent those out, to take effect immediately. Cancelled my meeting with L because the CMS staging was much more complicated than expected. I managed to blow away the production site by accident 😱 but managed to fix it fairly quickly. Finished staging and posted to Slack for “final“ comments. They’re doozies this week because we’re dropping all the content below the map, which wasn’t mentioned in the notes for the demo so pretty much everyone forgot about it. We may end up pushing the release to next week for another round of development and testing to figure out how to link to all the subsidiary pages.

Dinner on time for once, then crossword, Lucifer and sewing. I felled the center front and back seams and started the inseam. Snack, then sleep. Wide awake at 3 for no reason, then dreamt of dried fruit and ducks and bespoke flannel shirts and back entrances to second hand shops.
