It took a while to figure it out
Apr. 30th, 2020 07:07 amYesterday I delivered ID lists and aggregation data late because of an alarming issue preventing me from SSHing into my work machine. It resolved on its own, but without knowing why it happened there’s nothing preventing it from happening again. Grrr. Lab meeting went well; I’m getting the hang of doing Zoom with video through my computer and audio through my phone to prevent spotty internet from wrecking everything. Lunch was rushed but fine. Met with M about his masters thesis; cleared up some confusion about Theo and helped frame the many options for what to do next in terms of the core goals of his project. Finished a data preparation for R that it turned out he didn’t need anymore, but academics gonna academe so that’s alright. Took over the preparation of the community question in the F survey from N, incorporated our smoothing algorithm with her variance calculations, and finished it by end of day. I wasn’t super sure I’d got the se vs sd right, but N looked it over and approved. Met with the indicators team and we looked at the dev map together and decided on recommendations for the viz team for how to display the new case data. Went to the team leads meeting, delivered a rapid update, and got appropriate help with a weird interpersonal snag. R is either rapidly learning how to handle hierarchical org charts or is just exhausted; hoping for the former.
Dinner, trash, crossword, cleaned up the community question code and submitted a PR, sleep. Dreamt of making holiday cards, a discarded taco costume, distributing gift cards to nurse stations, fur hoods, chill anarchists.
