Back to work today
Jan. 2nd, 2019 06:33 amYesterday I fixed the twisted seam by folding to the vertical line instead
of the marks, and hand-basting instead of by machine. I think the main
problem was that this pleat is almost on the true bias, so the feed dogs
were pulling things out of whack. Not sure why the other side didn’t have
the same issue but whatevs. I sewed the pocket linings, then had to clean
up the cutting table for the other color of fabric since everything else
left to do requires both layers.
I cooked another batch of rice berry and quinoa, and portioned it out for
the freezer. After lunch I worked on an exercise and some notes for R, then
mom called and we had a nice long chat. P swept the downstairs floors and
took a walk. Dinner and crossword, and then I picked out a new show to
watch. “Lucifer” would be another grimdark murder-solving-cops show with a
side of supernatural if L didn’t frequently use his powers in the service
of de-escalation instead of the other way around. He’s a little heavy on
the shallow sex-soaked privilege-driven irreverent whimsical sense of
humor, but for me it’s made up for by moments of candor and everyone else’s
relentless Cassandra resistance to belief. A little gore, but so far not
excessive.
