Yesterday P and I pulled another pile of fiber from the porch to the third
floor. Unfortunately it turns out the large size comforter bags either
reacted poorly to the cold temps, the UV and handling, or forest creatures,
so some of them had tears. On the up side, the smaller bags seem of much
better quality, so shifting stuff was good anyhow. In the process, I sorted
colors for combo spins. I picked a blue green group with purple accents to
start with, and got it ready to spin — two pounds’ worth of 4-ounce braids,
fluffed, sectioned into arm-length chunks, split as needed to reduce
color-change lengths, and all mixed up in a couple of big bags. I grab a
new section at random, spin it, and repeat. I’m aiming for a 2x2 cable ply,
which should play nicely with both the super-fine Rambouillet and the
coarse Romney I have in the mix.
I did four loads of laundry, including the washcloths that have been
languishing for weeks now.
I roasted a bunch of vegetables for dinner, and was able to weather some
minor potato anxiety in order to eat them.
