Yesterday I did all the staystitching (oops), figured out the plan for
lining the bodice, and sewed the side seam on the right side only. It’s a
vintage pattern, so the zip will go in the left side (which I prefer
anyway). I decided to use some lightweight poly twill tape for the waist
stay and pinned it in place against the main fabric, but I’m not super
confident my machine will be able to ease it properly. Maybe I’ll try it
out first on a scrap.

I finished embroidering most of the stem shading on the broccoli, and
started on the flower bits. I’m hoping a stemmed french knot (tons and tons
of them) will do what I want there. The outer ones are being done with one
brown and one dark green thread held together, fading to just dark green
for the younger flowers nearer the viewer. I like it so far!

P went to his crisis response training last night so I stayed home on the
second floor with all the main floor lights turned off to deter
trick-or-treaters. It worked fine, and my dinner was extra excellent
because we had stale bread and fresh cheese, the optimal combination for
cheese toast to go in/on soup.
