Rain can happen any time please
Sep. 28th, 2017 10:36 amYesterday I sewed my second leggings prototype together, made a slight
adjustment to the crotch curve, and now they are perfect! Then I cut out a
wide yoga-style waistband after thinking carefully about the waist-hip
geometry. As soon as I picked up the pieces I realized they were all wrong
— I put the narrower waist bit in the center instead of at the ends. I
figured out a way to attach it right way up anyhow, it just required top
stitching the hip ends together (which I promptly did upside-down so the
weird zigzag side of the twin needle stitches shows instead of the nice
coverstitch-y side but at this point I’m deciding it’s fine). About halfway
through sewing it occurred to me to check the stretch %age of the band
fabric to make sure it matched the 50% all-way of the main fabric, and
surprise, it’s like 20% one way and mechanical stretch only the other way.
Thankfully it seems to fit great anyhow (hooray for self-drafted
patterns!). Only thing left is the hem.
Did the trash, and flipped the bedding in the guest room to prepare for M’s
arrival today. Picked some beans and a pepper. The summer squash is having
some trouble; I have it laid out on the grass but I think the dew is
exacerbating the everpresent leaf mildew problem.
