Yesterday we drove to Ross Park to drop the machine at Thornton's. It was a
way easier drive than I'd expected, though the roads were full of yahoos.
Four weeks!
I punched all the holes for one of the bag straps, removed one of the
existing ones and started sewing on the new one. I used an xacto to shave
down the ends a bit so they will tuck into place more easily; they have to
go into a little slot behind the binding and zipper for the outer pocket. I
also ripped out three seams of the lining inside the bag to get access to
the outer canvas, though it turns out that area has two layers of canvas
and the original straps were only sewn to the outer layer. I'm sewing the
new ones through both to avoid having to rip out more canvas seams.
