Fox folk and lolitae and face paint, oh my
Yesterday I plied up the Gotland, and it is gorgeous. P ran support for the
beef draft, and came home with mostly tender cuts and ground. I went on a
busventure (lol, autocorrect knows me) to the convention center downtown
and the Pittsburgh Creative Arts Festival, which happened to be coscheduled
with Tekko this year, so there were a delightful sprinkling of cosplayers
in amongst the yarnies and quilters. I was sad not to see some of my
favorite vendors (Gwen Erin, Prado de Lana, Ross Farm) but discovered two
new favorites (Aisling Yarns and Lazy O Ranch). Highlights include a shaker
sewing box with tool tray and bobbin rack, 8oz of a really lovely Border
Leicester X Targhee fiber, 800 yards of worsted Coopworth, and some thread
snips from the vintage Singer Featherweights booth where I had a nice long
chat about machine restoration, motor electrics, and the relative virtues
of being in the first graduating class of our respective computing-adjacent
programs. She’s going to float my name with the local restorers and see if
anyone is interested in taking a look at my White.
I timed it perfectly to walk onto a 61 and then a 58, and once home, carded
a bit of Tunis before dinner and crossword and knitting.
I’m into A Wizard’s Dilemma, which has distinct whiffs of Mirrormask about
it while still pulling its own weight, which I like.
